If you live in Chicago, you must own a down parka to survive the winter. Here are a few options that will keep you warm and chic throughout the season. A few things to consider when making your decision: length, function v. aesthetic, hood with fur, fill, fit, and price. There are so many great looking puffer coats available now – it’s beyond that puffy sleeping bag look! The warmest option will include real down, a hood with real fur trim (to reduce the wind), and mid-length keeping that bum covered. From the above, I have the Canada Goose – Kensington, #7. It’s incredibly warm and functional. I currently have my eye on the the Mackage – Jada Maxi, #8. I feel I need something just a bit longer for those harsh windy days, which he have frequently in Chicago. Stay warm!
April 18-24 is World Recycle Week. H&M around the globe will be accepting your unwanted clothes. Their goal is to collect 1,000 tons of clothing items to recycle, repurpose and reuse. This weekend is the perfect time to spring clean that closet. Read more about the ongoing garment recycle program at H&M here. Climate change is real, please do your part!
H&M is planning to launch an entire beauty collection this fall! It will include makeup, body, haircare and beauty tools. There will be 700 products in two collections – premium and certified organic and with a nice price tag from $2.99 to $24.99. What a great way to try new colors and trends for a new season.
I usually stay away from mid-length skirts and dresses since they make me feel shorter. But I love the pattern and flow of this one I picked up at H&M. Simple and chic! I decided on a slim pointy toe flat, though this is look great with a heeled sandal this Summer.
I love wearing flowy button-down shirts during the warmer months, and was excited to find this one last week at H&M for just $17! I generally invest in quality over quantity and always make sure it’s something that I really love, not just a label or trend piece. It’s important to purchase items with a purpose. I wear my favorite pieces over and over, whether it be a flowy shirt for $17 or a great investment bag or shoe. Less is more!
Time to pack away that down puffer coat and switch to a lighter trench coat. I’m SO excited to do just that! A trench coat is a wardrobe staple and such a versatile piece. I suggest finding something that can be worn to the office and with a pair of jeans and sneakers on the weekend. Here are a few options that are classic and perfect for this warmer weather.
Extra cold weather calls for extra layers! A leather jacket and heavy knit over a tube dress is comfortable and simple. Next time, a pair of wool tights are are order though! Here’s to another week that gets us closer to Spring!
dress: H&M // scarf: Zara // bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs //shades: Prada
I found this comfortable jersey dress at H&M a while ago and decided to accessorize it with some print. A large scarf and some calf hair shoes add just the right amount of pattern and texture. Maybe it’s time to add more longer skirts and dresses to my wardrobe?!
