leather and layers for fall

leather jacket: Mango // knit: IRO similar // denim: Acne Studios // belt: Gucci // bag: Marc Jacobs // boots: Zara // shades: MiuMiu similar

While I love summer and it’s my favorite time of year, I do look forward to wearing layers as the weather cools down. I picked up this leather jacket a few weeks ago when I was in Bruges, Belgium. I’ve been looking for a leather jacket for awhile and unexpectedly found this one when out shopping one afternoon. I love the clean lines and subtle texture; it’s easily dressed up or down with jeans and heels or boots. What are some of you favorite go-to pieces in-between seasons?

The Puffer Coat

1: Moncler // 2: Armani Exchange // 3. Moncler // 4: H&M // 5: Mackage // 6: Zara // 7: Canada Goose // 8: Mackage // 9: Canada Goose

If you live in Chicago, you must own a down parka to survive the winter. Here are a few options that will keep you warm and chic throughout the season. A few things to consider when making your decision: length, function v. aesthetic, hood with fur, fill, fit, and price. There are so many great looking puffer coats available now – it’s beyond that puffy sleeping bag look! The warmest option will include real down, a hood with real fur trim (to reduce the wind), and mid-length keeping that bum covered. From the above, I have the Canada Goose – Kensington, #7. It’s incredibly warm and functional.  I currently have my eye on the the Mackage – Jada Maxi, #8. I feel I need something just a bit longer for those harsh windy days, which he have frequently in Chicago. Stay warm!

You can never go wrong with a black sweater, or have too many of them. Because they all look so different! Seriously, every above sweater is unique from the next. Whether it be the knit, cut, fabric, etc. I also love the option of wearing a sweater with jeans and sneakers, and then easily dressing up the same with a pair of heels and leather pants. Boom, completely versatile and an entirely different look. I’ve selected a few sweaters that I have my eye on and would love to add into my fall/winter wardrobe!

casual & cool

turtleneck: Uniqlo // overalls: Zara similar // bag: Barneys New York // shades: Prada // slides: Gucci

Overalls and jumpsuits are always a great choice for a casual and easy look. They’re versatile and super comfy – dress them up with heels or down with a tee and sneakers. It’s been cooler these past few weeks in Chicago, so I decided to wear a thinner turtleneck for a bit more warmth! To keep is simple and chic I went with a sleek backpack, slides and a red lip for a pop.

frilly sleeves

top: Zara // scarf: Dior similar // jeans: Old Navy // shoes: Zara // shades: Celine similar // bag: Barneys New York

Volume and ruffles are trending this spring. While I’ve always loved volume and the interest it brings to a look, I haven’t worn too many frilly ruffles for quite some time. When I saw this oversized frilly sleeve on a no doubt black top a few weeks ago at Zara, I had to grab it! It’s an easy way to dress up jeans, or pair with black pants and heels for a night out. Also, these mules are super comfortable and also from Zara. You need them for spring and summer!

I’m really loving all the oversized sleeves I’m seeing everywhere right now. Volume, texture, and flow are always a fun way to add interest to a look. I picked up this long-sleeved tee at Zara a few weeks ago. It adds just the right amount of fun to a casual look. What are some of your favorite Spring trends?

all black with texture

scarf: Gucci similar // jacket: Vince // belt: Prada similar // pants: Massimo Dutti // boots: Zara // bag: Prada // shades: Prada

A black blazer is a wardrobe staple. It pulls a look together and can easily be dressed up or down. For texture I added an oversized scarf and cinched the waist with a slim belt. I’ve been growing out my hair for a few months. I’m sticking with it, though it’s reached an awkward length. I’ve been wearing it curly and occasionally wrapping it up with silk scarves to get me through the process!
